Is it proper to use cash incentives for learninf for boys in grades 6-8?

I refer you to http://drsorotzkin.com/pdf/rewards.pdf  Read it and draw your own conclusions.  There was also a very good article in a recent Binah magazine that dealt with the issue of incentives.

Here is the Rambam in Mishnayos Sanhedrin. Its obvious that it could be kind of an incentive. Though many parents resist.
