An interesting scientific study detailing the actual number of
seeds found in a pomegranate. According to mesorah, the rimon
has 613 seeds and this study actually shows that the average
number of seeds found different pomegranates from around the
world is 613! This is a fascinating piece of trivia which can be
shared with the class as a supplement to a lesson on Rosh
Hashanah and the simanim or shivas haminim. (The study is
