Learning About 2D And 3D Shapes: Make A 3D Dreidel

This teacher instruction sheet details how to introduce students to the concept of depth by folding a paper with an illustration of a dreidel into a 3D dreidel! When the activity is complete, students will not only be familiar with the terms length, height and most importantly - depth, they will have experienced these concepts themselves! Students will also be able to identify the shapes which make up 2 and 3 dimensional dreidels and differentiate between them. This experiential pre-geometry activity can be done as a special Chanukah treat in a 1st-2nd grade class.
