This session on Chinuch Habanos was given by R' Shmuel Kamenetsky at the 2008 Torah Umesorah Convention. After some introductory remarks by R' Kamenetsky people asked questions, and the following  topics were discussed:

  • What should policies of a school be about Bas Mitzvah parties.
  • How to deal with a girl who doesn't want to daven on Shabbos and Sundays.
  • What age should we start teaching about tznius.
  • Highschool girls winter breaks, pesach and summer vacations,
  • What should be done with a very academically gifted girl-what is the goal?
  • How to deal with Sheimos with sheets from the computer-also what exactly is considered sheimos?
  • Is practicing choirs during Sefirah allowed.
  • Revising tests-does a teacher have to collect the tests, separate desks, etc. to avoid cheating.
  • Chutzpah at home- girl who is  great in school but has chutzpa at home.
  • Appropriateness of having students act out scenes from Chumash.
  • How can a first grade girl be prevented from being a negative influence on others.
  • How rebbes/moros should deal with their own children being jealous of time spent with students.
  • Can a girl use a test from her older sister to study from.
  • How important is it for girls to go to Israel (for seminary) if it is financially difficult.
  • Seminaries in general-what are the benefits.
  • Issue of lack of solid mechanchos because girls are going into different fields.(because of money)
  • Women who are teaching when their husbands are in kollel-don't make enough money but want to be in a Klei kodesh enviroment because they think their husbands will learn more.
  • Out-of-town middle school girls are rebelling against davening and teachers arent available to be good role models by davening because they are too busy.
  • How should an English teacher respond to girls complaints about Limudei Kodesh teachers?
