We've all heard about the negative impact Internet is having on
our talmidim, our families, and the Jewish community as a whole.
It can rob kids of their innocence and ability to focus, destroy
families, foster addictive behaviors. We've all heard the horror
stories. Yet, Internet use is widespread and is only getting more
ingrained in the way modern society functions. It is all so
overwhelming! Are we too late? Is there nothing we can do?! Yes,
there is!
This session, geared to even a
non-computer savvy individual, will educate about available tools
and techniques to greatly and effectively mitigate the problem.
It will include live demonstrations of how some of these tools
work. The participant will leave with the knowledge of general
concepts of safe and appropriate technology use so they can
understand further discussions about the subject and make their
own conclusions. The session will include discussions about
mobile devices, Facebook, as well as cover some frequently asked
questions like "Can't it all be bypassed and if so, why even
bother?" It will also present an overview of our very
successful Internet safety workshops for parents and share some
results and feedback from the participants. An offer will be
extended to any school that would want TFSA to present a similar
workshop to their parent body and faculty/staff. Finally, TFSA
will give out information on how to contact our free technical
support where anyone can seek support for their particular
situation to ensure safe and appropriate use of
technology.
