Pull out your back issues of Olameinu!!

Look at the inside back cover years and years of Olameinu. The Inside back cover usually  had stories (usually gedolim stories or biographies) I think it was called Mador Ivri and I believe it was written by a Rabbi Yisrael Shurin. It was written in easy Hebrew with difficult words footnoted and translated on the bottom of the page.

I heard from a colleague that  he also published a multi-volume set of biographies of gedolim called  Morei HaUmma (sp?) (also with diifficult words translated on the bottom of the page)

While thinking of creative ways to help boys struggling to learn the vocabulary of the Gemara and meforshim, my husband thought of giving his talmidim gedolim stories in 'biblical' or 'old fashioned' Hebrew with translations of difficult words at the bottom of the page.  Does anyone know if such things exist already?
