Title: translation sheets Post by: Songnote on January 08, 2008, 01:08:50 PM Hello. I am new here. We are homeschooling our son. I wasnt sure which catagory to post this in exactly, so i am posting it here. My husband is learning Parshas Vayikra with our son, with Rashi. My husband asked me to make teich (translation) sheets for our son to study from. I started the job, and it is such a big job i feel like i'm going crazy already after having just started.
Ideally what i would really like, is first of all, a word for word translation, so that he can learn the words/the vocabulary. Literal meaning, and how it's used in the pasuk. Then to have the words together as coherent phrases and sentences from the pasuk. This job is too much for me, so i am trying to find out where i can get such material. A friend of mine recommended i come to this website, but i dont see anything like this on this website. Where can i get what i'm looking for? I need translation that is understandable for a kid- not fancy English. I am willing to go to a store, go to a website that has this to download, or what, and of course, i am more than willing to pay for it. I would also like to suggest that a homeschooling catagory be put up on this board. There are more and more frum parents that have chosen, for various reasons, to homeschool there children, and they could also use to 'exchange ideas' Thank you Title: Re: translation sheets Post by: kidsrgifts on January 17, 2008, 05:10:45 PM I think there may be a program by Davka which has the translation of Tanach.
Hatzlocha! Title: Re: translation sheets Post by: Songnote on February 10, 2008, 04:54:58 PM Thank you very much. I hadnt checked here for a while, and now i see your response. I did happen to get that Davka and it's a good product, but it does not give phrase by phrase translation. I spoke to a teacher at a local yeshiva and he was able to get translation sheets for me on Vayikra. I havent received them yet. I hope they will be good. In general, i dont want to keep bothering this teacher. Do you, or anyone else here know of any place i can buy or download teich sheets, with translation in vocabulary suitable for children?
Title: Re: translation sheets Post by: RivkaD on February 14, 2008, 05:31:57 PM Hi Homeschooler!
I sympathize, I homeschooled for a while myself but only in secular because of the problems of doing limudei kodesh on my own. There is absolutely nothing I know of on the commercial market, or internet, that I know of like this. I think you should contact Torah U'Mesorah directly, they have hundreds of publications available to teach from. I think the Parshas LechLecha workbook that I have taught from is from them. It has word by word, pictures to help with concepts, etc. Hope this helps! - Morah Rivka Title: Re: translation sheets Post by: dannybergson on August 13, 2009, 10:44:12 AM torah umesorah publications are the best. i am homeschooling my 7 yr old using the lech lecha, it is very good.
