Title: First time larning Chumash for high school girls in a kiruv school
Post by: ysfgold on August 25, 2010, 05:38:20 AM
I work in a kiruv school in Belarus. The girls have various levels of knowledge in Jewish subjects. Many of them know the basic stories in Chumash, but have never learned in inside. I would like to start with basic Chumash skills from iside a chumash. They read basic Hebrew slowly. I was thinking to take small sections of chumash, maybe transliterated to Russian, read it through, find shorashim, discuss important words, and then in the next class discuss more hashkafa on the topic we read the class before. I want to work with the Taryag Mitzvos Curriculum. If anyone has any ideas and guidance, I would be happy to hear.

A great system for developing vocabulary and CHumash skills can be found in my workshop LAYING THE FOUNDATION FOR A LIFETIME OF LEARNING TORAH INDEPENDENTLY.  It can be found in th video section of chinuch.org as well as in the general material section.  Hatzlacha.
