Title: Melave Malka for 6th-8th graders
Post by: akula on February 02, 2010, 10:36:25 AM
We are looking to run a melave malke for the 6th-8th grade boys in our school. Its approximately 30 boys. In the past there was just food and story telling. Does anyone have any suggestions to make the program more fun? Any ideas on good games or how to run a kumzits effectively for kids this age (getting them to actually sing)? If you have any ideas you can email me at aykula@sbcglobal.net

Thanks in advance.

We have some great games for melave malkas - we used to do Win, Lose or Draw and we have Taboo (Jewish version) here on Chinuch.org, as well as other games. There is also "Paper Bag Dramatics" where you put unrelated items in bags, give them to each group, and they have to act out a play on the assigned topic using the objects as props.  I can explain in more detail if you are interested.

There is also a non-Jewish book called "New Games" which is about non-competitive teamwork games that can be played with ordinary objects - like passing a ball using only your knees, etc.
